At times we have to choose between the path that is conventional and the path that is not. In today's world that once worn path that our great grandparents traveled is so overgrown and forgotten that it barely exists. Our goal is to reforge that forgotten path and make it new again.

Spring Fever

Last week was the spring: 65 degrees, robins in the yard, daffodils coming up and kids riding bikes. Simon and Ferris laid out in the yard, Dylan enjoyed an open window and Joe and I did some work in the garage. Mackenson's dresser is painted and waiting on me to carry it into his room. Joe built a shelf for Marie's books that is waiting to be painted.

This week is the fever: Mack started on Thursday and Marie came home from school Friday. Friday night was a nightmare with Marie's temperature spike sending her into the cold bath. Having to hold your child down to pour cold water on her while she is shivering so violently she can barely cry is horrible. It's just horrible. All day today neither kid had a fever, right at bedtime they started to get a little hot. Why is that kids can go all day fine and then get sick at night again?

Hi Joe/Sara!

Good to see you guys are doing well and adjusting to the new family environment well. ;)

I've read that people tend to get sick/er toward the evening because that is when your body naturally starts shutting down. See Circadian Rhythm. It's an interesting topic really, you notice so many things once you're aware of them.

Well this nerd moment was brought to you by Kate, leaving your blog open on her desktop.

Take care,

-Dan

That's such a good question! I've experienced the same thing with all of my kids. Just when you think they've kicked the bug, the fever returns at night. I hope everyone is all recovered now and you are enjoying Kentucky in the spring. Have you guys gone to the KY Horse Park in Lexington, yet?
