At times we have to choose between the path that is conventional and the path that is not. In today's world that once worn path that our great grandparents traveled is so overgrown and forgotten that it barely exists. Our goal is to reforge that forgotten path and make it new again.

Joe's Birthday
Happy Birthday, Joe! About a week before his birthday, the kids went to the bookstore (with me) for a present. In attempt to help them pick a book he would like and not one about Clifford the Big Red Dog or Dora the Explorer, they were given the choice between two biographies. They picked John Adams, we bought it, took it home, wrapped it and hid it. I told the kids it was a surprise for Papa and we couldn't tell him until his birthday when he opened it. Ha! As soon as Marie saw Papa later she blurted out "Hey Papa, we got you something for your birthday! It's a surprise!". Mackenson took this as his cue, "It's a book!". And then put his finger to his lips, "shhh! It's a secret". So much for surprise! Of course this wasn't the last time Marie taunted and Mackenson spilled the beans on their "secret present" for their Papa - with his encouragement of course. Joe really liked the book - almost as much as he liked asking the kids for hints on what it was all week. "It's a book!"
