At times we have to choose between the path that is conventional and the path that is not. In today's world that once worn path that our great grandparents traveled is so overgrown and forgotten that it barely exists. Our goal is to reforge that forgotten path and make it new again.

First Mow of the Year and a Potato Field

Okay, so I am a little excited about mowing the lawn. I need a life, right? I haven't really gotten to mow for over three years though. Plus that means it's really spring;) When we lived in Germany we had a tiny front yard only and I used a wee little weed eater to cut it. The first time I cut it was with a scissors (that was pre-weed eater purchase obviously!). Joe had to work today with his favorite of all creatures, horses, and called me just after he left the house. He saw a sign for a garage sale in our neighborhood. Actually Joe doesn't like horses because they bite and kick, or as he puts it..."they have both the ability and desire to hurt you badly". Or maybe he said "kill you". I digress...so I headed out to see what the garage sale was all about. Of all things, they had a free lawnmower! Exactly what I needed! It needs a few pins to hold the handle on the body securely but big fat hairy deal, I can do that! Our lawn was on the verge of looking like a jungle. While I was having the time of my life mowing, Joe was hard at work digging up a spot for iris in our front yard and potatoes in the back. The heavy (and rain drenched) clay didn't make his job very easy. I wonder how many blisters he has now? We shouldn't have a hard time finding chives to have with our baked potatoes...our yard abounds in chives. Achew!
